Summary/Abstract: The necessity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions makes it urgent to move away from fossil fuels. Hydrogen has the potential to play an important role in this area. This gas can replace fossil fuels in transport and industry, as well as provide storage for renewable electricity. Widespread use of hydrogen would make it possible to reduce hydrocarbon imports, which would contribute to improving energy security. However, due to the nature of hydrogen, its use will raise a number of regulatory challenges.
