Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the influence of mathematical modeling as a method of work on the motivation and success of students while teaching mathematics. For the purpose of the research, an experimental group of (N = 36) students was formed, divided into three classes: linear, quadratic and logarithmic function. During the period of 6 weeks, high school students of gymnasium schools and technical schools of Zenica-Doboj Canton had the opportunity to study about the functions through mathematical modelling. Lessons were performed by distance learning, using: graphic writing tablet (HUION), PDF Annotator, Google Workspace, ZOOM, GeoGebra, Wolfram Mathematica, Quizizz, MSOffice, WordWall. The aim of the research was to examine students' attitudes about mathematical modeling in mathematics teaching and to show the influence of mathematical modeling on the efficiency of mathematics teaching in the study of functions and their properties. The results of tests, examinations, surveys, questionnaires lead to the conclusion that the application of mathematical modeling as a way of studying and investigating functions is significantly more efficient than traditional teaching of mathematics. The participants of the program had positive attitudes and opinions about modeling in mathematics teaching, and the influence of motivation on the success of students in mathematics teaching was shown. The integration of mathematical modeling in the teaching of mathematics would be extremely important for the academic development of students, for understanding the essence of the acquired knowledge, for better thinking and developing critical thinking skills.
