Summary/Abstract: The year 1922 brought a unique event in the history of Romania: the coronation of King Ferdinand as the first sovereign of Greater Romania. The act has both a not insignificant political importance and a symbolic one. Both are present in the political debate in the Romanian society of the time, in the Parliament hall but also in the press of the time. The entire Romanian society experienced with emotion the event of 1922, which was interpreted by each citizen according to his expectations from the great people of the country, his education, but also his political orientation. The article reviews the views on the appropriateness of the coronation ceremony, the choice of venue and the date on which the event was to take place, as well as the positions of politicians, parties to the act and its symbolic significance. The impressions of those who attended the event are also presented, as well as the retrospective analyzes of some of those directly involved in the organization of the coronation.
