Summary/Abstract: Sweden stands out, at the European level, by the facts that it has managed to preserve the highest degree of afforestation. Some factors common to other countries as well as some specific ones contributed to this success. The regulation of the activity in the forestry sector, in Sweden, provided mainly by the Forestry Law, presents some particularities, which should be noted by the Romanian legislator. Also, the institutional/organizational framework in the Swedish forestry sector presents some particularities that have managed to strengthen the position of this country.
