Summary/Abstract: The Orăștie Museum was founded by Dr. Ioan Valer Todea. By donating his personal collection of artefacts and by encouraging the local authorities to organize a volunteer comity for this purpose he capacitated the establishment of the Orăștie Museum. Although having positive results within the newly established museum Dr. I. V. Todea was imprisoned by the communist regime as a political detainee through a fake trial. He was released in 1964 through Decree and returned at the Orăștie Museum as a curator until retirement. Through his professional activity and scientific work he promoted a passion for traditional Romanian values so that the local community should recognize him as post-mortem Honorary Citizen.
