Summary/Abstract: The Romanian folk shirts are one of the most interesting parts of the traditional costume in particular the one worn during holidays, which were the result of women labour where their talent, care, scrupulousness and love manifested. Many of the studied pieces are unique, currently missing from the rural environment. The main goal of this study is to research the whole shirt collection hosted by the Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art from Orăștie. Each piece was studied separately in order to establish a complex analysis based on their place of origin, traditional cuts, the fabrics from which they were made, their decorations and artistic motifs. The most spectacular shirts were those worn by women. In this paper the most representative pieces were presented, the one classified as thesaurus, but also the ones specific to the land of Orăștie.
