Summary/Abstract: Literature and history are two realms that connect on the field of the individual imaginary and open to new possibilities of exploration. It is also the case of Assia Djebar's novel, Le Blanc de l’Algérie, whose elements define a more specific imaginary: the Djebarian one. Actually, it offers two paramount aspects to analyse: the expressions of power (the war, the writer's talent to create unique perspectives, the subtle connexions that can change the entire perception of reality) and the personal experience (specific circumstances, conversations, memories). These aspects are actually reconsidered in terms of the writer's original outlook on life and historical events. The Djebarian imaginary encloses values that customize the writer's vision about topics as: the French colonization, the war of independence and the civil war in Algeria, the hard time of some Algerian intellectuals. In fact, Assia Djebar's project is to pay homage to those friends (as she calls the intellectuals from her novel) that she happened to know and admire.
