Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the volume entitled “Brăila prin veacuri și în zilele noastre” [Brăila through the ages and nowadays], by means of which th author, Ioan Munteanu, makes an extensive monography of the city and its surroundings. Details of the history of development from the beginnings to the present day are presented, involving all the important aspects of the economy and social-political life of both the city and the county with the same name. The information is up to date, including statistical data illustrating the comprehensive picture of Brăila.
