An evaluation of PzU against other institutions of the insurance market

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an evaluation of the importance of PZU SA in the insurance market and its finan- cial position. It describes changes in the insurance market, paying special attention to the position of the audited entity and the financial situation of the group PZU SA in comparison with the state of the insurance industry in general. For this purpose, an indicator analysis was used, and special attention has been focused on indicators of profitability, performance and interdependence. This analysis has proven that the financial situation of the largest Polish insurer is very favourable relative to the results of the entire industry, despite changing market conditions and an intense investment policy.
