Summary/Abstract: The first purpose of this research is to adapt the concept of "sensitivity to initial conditions" (SIC) that emerged from chaos theory to the subject of e-communication, and the second purpose is to measure whether changes in e-communication behaviors have a positive or negative effect on the status and trajectory of romantic relationships. This research was carried out with 291 participants aged 18-27 years (average 20.83 years). 57% of the participants (166) were women. After factor analysis, a scale consisting of three factors and 11 variables was developed. The rate at which these three factors explained the scale was found to be 52.9%, which indicated that the scale was suitable for use in the research. A decision tree was applied to the scale used to evaluate the sensitivity of young adults with a romantic partner or who had a romantic relationship in the past (those with romantic relationship experience) to initial conditions in their relationships. This research has shown that the concept of “SIC” derived from chaos or complexity theory is an observable characteristic in the e-communication (texting) behaviors of romantic partners.
