Summary/Abstract: In the literature, it is seen that baglama is accepted as male playing by the society and female performers are kept in the background when it comes to performing baglama and the gender associated with baglama is male. This success aims to make some musical and cultural determinations regarding the baglama type preferences of female performers who perform professional baglama performances. The short-long neck preferences of female performers have been tried to be determined, and the musical and cultural emergence in the background of this situation continues to be revealed. The research was carried out in accordance with the descriptive model, one of the qualitative research methods. Semi-structured interview formula was used as a data collection tool and interviews were conducted with five female performers who performed baglama professionally. The data obtained were subjected to content analysis and tabulated as themes and codes, and frequency (f) and percentage values (%) were also included in the tables. As a result of the research, it was determined that female performers were influenced by musical elements such as short and long neck baglama type preferences, ergonomic structure of baglama, local behavioral characteristics, tuning order, as well as cultural elements such as family and social environment regarding baglama playing. In addition, it was determined that gender stereotypes have negative effects on the binding type preference and that problems in this context can affect the balance of these patterns.
