Summary/Abstract: The paper is concerned with the theoretical and practical approaches to administrative regionalisation. The authors attempt to present a new methodology, which on one hand is theoretical and from the other, enables the design of an optimal spatial system in terms of the demands of the population. This is presented on through the example of Hungarian districts (the level between municipalities and counties in the administrative system).
