Summary/Abstract: Socio-economic development of the majority of European countries results in an increasing number of tourist traffic. Economic and demographic trends, however, bring about reflections over changes occurring on the tourist market. The importance of social tourism function has been noticed as the possible tool for stimulating the market. Activities undertaken by the state, local authorities and social organizations aim at reducing the exclusion level of poorer social groups from participation in tourism. It mainly refers to senior citizens and the disabled people. The objective of the study is, on the one hand, to emphasize factors influencing demand in social tourism, and on the other to assess tourism oriented activity of the mentioned above social groups. The surveys, which covered senior citizens and the disabled residing in different regions of Poland, constituted the background for the discussed activity assessment.
