Summary/Abstract: The article discusses organizational and training solutions in the field of development of leadership competence of candidates for officers in General Tadeusz Kosciuszko Military Academy of Land Forces. The basis for considerations of authors are dilemmas that accompany the functioning of leaders in organizations (including military), presented in a rich literature of management science. The authors analyze the current cadet training program of Military Academy of Land Forces for achieving the educational goals in the field of managerial knowledge and commanding skills and attitudes of leadership (commanding), and against this background indicate the directions of possible improvements. In particular, this would involve the modification of not only the process of leadership competence in the curriculum, but also with the improvement of recruitment process of candidates and the wider evaluation of the educational process at all levels. The authors propose a systemic solution to the problem, involving not only the teaching staff of the Faculty of Management and the Institute of Command at the Military Academy but also command staff and instructors in the of centers training of land forces.
