ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Summary/Abstract: Upbringing and education for the environment and sustainable development is realised in our schools as a teaching princip/e. ln this paper the interest is directed to the upbringing and education for the environment and viable development as well as to the endeavour to realise its modern tendencies in our schools. The paper also analyses the tasks of upbringing and education for the environment and sustainable development in pre-school education, primary and secondary school upbringing and education, as well as the contents of the teaching subjects important for the realisation of upbringing and education for the environment and sustainable development in regular instruction. Attention is drawn to the abundance of extracurricular and out-ofschool activities of the young that allow a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to the problems of upbringing and education in order to increase its efficiency in our schools
