Summary/Abstract: In everyday instruction students are faced with problem situations. Problem- solving instruction is a good way of stimulating students’ creativity. The problem instruction is based on the pattern of participant’s thinking. Problem solving develops student’s creative thoughts. In this way students develop intellectual skills. The aim of this paper is to point to the problem-oriented instruction as a way of easier acquisition of teaching material. A special reference is made to its importance for the easier acquisition of the teaching material from the Croatian Language. A higher presence of this kind of instruction could enhance student’s activity during classes which in turn would diminish students’ passivity. Higher activity at classes helps the student to actively acquire knowledge. Learning by problem solution, the student is educated in the spirit of responsibility and independence along with the full development of his individuality.
