Summary/Abstract: Lithuanian compound female names are usually reconstructed on the basis of corresponding male names and in most cases follow their accentuation patterns. A significant part of female names belong to one accentuation paradigm, but there is also a large group of names with varying inflection classes and accentuation paradigm. The variation typically depends on the second component of the name. After a review of the works published since the mid-20th century, it has become clear that they do not always agree on inflection classes and accentuation paradigms of Lithuanian compound female names. When the norm of these female names is codified, a more systematic approach is needed. Unfortunately, the usage of compound female names in modern spoken Lithuanian has been scarcely described. If more data were available, it would be clear when the recommendations of the linguists are accepted and when non-codified forms or accentuation paradigms are preferred.
