Summary/Abstract: The European Market of insurances was functioning before the appearance of the “Solvency II”norm according to very different norms.As a result, the need for a rethinking of the legal system in order to create the premise of the Single Market of Insurances was a must.This was possible under the form of a new guidelinesable to bring increased stability, transparence and competivity to the European market of insurances.The new norms concerning capital solvability are designed to guarantee a confidence climate to the potential insurance client whom is ultimately the main beneficiary of this legal proposition, which is due to come into effect in 2012.
