Summary/Abstract: The Transylvanian Depression constitutes one of the major relief units of the Romanian territory, standing out through its central position in the space of the three Carpathian divisions: Eastern, Southern, Western. It also has a central position in the Romanian space, distinguished by the trans-Carpathian connections, having a special accessibility and osmosis with the surrounding Carpathian space. The study emphasizes a series of geo-historical features (wellknown Dacian space), fundamental aspects of the local humanization, stability, continuance, permanence processes, as well as the important Romanian ethnic homogeneity. To support the attestation of these features, the study presents a comparison between the demographic evolutions, emphasizing the mutations occurred in the national population structure during the specific periods (1880- 1900), and the last population and housing censuses from Romania. Several aspects are relevant regarding the relations between the Romanian population and the national minorities in some localities. The analyses of the last census (2011) compared to the 1930 census reveal a series of anachronistic situations related to the decrease of the Romanian population in some localities over time. The preservation and continuance elements of the Romanian ethnicity are also attested.
