Summary/Abstract: The innovativeness is an essentials element of SMEs development and improvement of their competitiveness in the European and world area. The research shows the level of innovativeness is low in Poland (only 19% of Polish SMEs are innovative). There are many reasons of this situation (internal and external conditions). Comparing Poland to the EU countries, the participation of innovative enterprises is 50% lower to EU average level. Therefore, the most important thing is the identification of the needs of no-innovative SMEs which want to implement new solutions in their firms. It is aimed to build their innovation potential and increase the number of innovative enterprises in Poland.
