The role of EU funds in the financing of sustainable development on the example of Łodź Voivodeship municipalities

Summary/Abstract: This article points to the importance of sustainable development in global and EU policy, highlighting the priority of sustainable development for further local development. The purpose of this article is to draw attention to the impossibility of financing sustainable development policy at the local level (taking as an example municipalities in Łódź Voivodeship) without financial support from the EU funds. The purpose of this article is also to indicate the need to verify the assumptions of the operational programs that benefit local government, in connection with the opportunities of financing sustainable development needs.
