Ethnic Identity and Social Integration

Summary/Abstract: The intensified attention paid to the ethnic problems by the public has determined the framework and the characterisics of research after 1989. The results of the sociological surveys gradually became part of the general social context of ethnic relations. However, the experience gathered presumes at least one more possible viewpoint for theoretical reflections on ethnic identity in Bulgaria. The change of perspective, from differences distinction to conformities interpretation, could lay new framework of the theoretical debate for the meaning and the importance of social integration in regions with mixed population.
