The process of spa enterprises privatization in Poland

Summary/Abstract: Polish spa enterprises are currently undergoing the period of turbulent ownership transformations. After privatization processes are finalized only one state-owned spa enterprise in Krynica Zdrój will remain on the market. Investors favour Polish enterprises owing to changes in tourist demand which result from the increasing health awareness and interest in health tourism. Spa resorts represent locations prepared in a natural way to meet health oriented needs and can turn into specialized tourist centres popular among visitors. For this reason investments are indispensable as well as capital which facilitates such transformations. The objective of the paper is to provide characteristics and tries to evaluate the process of Polish spa resort companies’ privatization. In order to carry out the above purpose the review of legislation documents and post-inspection reports was performed.
