Summary/Abstract: Contemporary tourist enterprises are doomed to participate in the process of transformations occurring in their environment, which is manifested in their ongoing readiness to implement innovations. The objective of the article is to identify relations between the innovativeness of tourist enterprises and the development of tourist regions. For this purpose the analysis of subject literature was conducted as well as the diagnostic survey was carried out on the selected group of tourist enterprises from the Lower Silesia Voivodeship (hotels, travel agencies and tourist attractions providers). The analysis of data was performed by applying structure analysis measures, including statistical positioning measures. The problems related to nature, sources, barriers and innovation diffusion were analysed. The theory of tourism multiplier effect was used to explain the impact of innovations implemented in tourist enterprises on the regional development.
