Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to prove that a typical example of companies, that operate in accordance to the objectives of the sustainable development and strengthen the sustainable development of rural areas are the farms with ecological profile. The research is supported by the analysis of a domestic and foreign literature as well as by data obtained from surveys carried out on Polish territory in years 2006 and 2011
