EU funds as the tourist function raising factor in the selected tourist communes of Jelenia Góra region

Summary/Abstract: Polish accession to the European Union structures allows for tourism development financing from the EU support means. These resources can be invested in, among others, the modernization and extension of tourist infrastructure, which represents one of the crucial factors deciding about the level of tourism function in a destination. The objective of the paper is to evaluate the investment of EU funds in infrastructural tourism oriented projects in three tourist communes located in Jelenia Góra region, i.e. Karpacz, Szklarska Poręba and Świeradów-Zdrój. The analysis of EU funds absorption in these communes was performed in order to achieve the research objective. The conducted research confirmed that e.g. the diversification of activities in obtaining EU funds by particular communes depends on the level of their tourist function implementation, and also the impact of the usage of European funds on the development of the destination tourist function, in particular on the destination tourist infrastructure.
