Summary/Abstract: In recent years, there has been a wide spreading belief that the modern environment has changed dramatically. The new reality and the dynamic socio-economic transformations pose high demands on management, because the changes are becoming more and more difficult to predict. Changes in the environment are one of the major factors which make it increasingly difficult for companies to implement development strategies. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyze issues related to the formulation and implementation of corporate strategic objectives by analyzing the results of a survey conducted on a sample of 200 companies − industry leaders. The study indicates that even elite companies often encounter difficulties in this regard. The most common problems are: i) focus on operational activities, apart from strategic goals (almost 30%); ii) the absence of motivators or inappropriate motivators to support implementation of the strategic goals (17,5% of responses); iii) an excessive number of strategic objectives included in the strategy (13% of responses).
