Summary/Abstract: Many cluster type initiatives have been initiated in Poland recently, also in tourism sector. Their success is determined by many variables among which confidence is recognized as the key factor. The establishment of clusters usually is not followed by research covering their development factors. The presented article is an attempt to fill in this gap. It tries to verify the thesis about the key role of confidence in the development of cluster initiatives based on the example of Karkonosze-Izery Tourist Cluster (KITC). For this purpose the potential members of Karkonosze-Izery cluster initiative were surveyed. Moreover, an answer to the question was investigated whether the regional entrepreneurs were interested in cooperation with KITC and what could constitute its major obstacle. The discussion of research results was supported by brief characteristics of Karkonosze-Izery Tourist Cluster as well as its origins presentation. The results of research performed using a structured interview method allowed for the positive verification of the adopted thesis. The recognized deficit in confidence can constitute the most serious development barrier of Karkonosze-Izery Tourist Cluster established in autumn 2014.
