Summary/Abstract: Accreditation as a "conditio sine qua non" in higher education system represents a process that results in a certificate of compliance higher education institutions in relation to prescribed standards and recognition of the quality of academic programs. The importance of accreditation in higher education system of Bosnia and Herzegovina is remarkable, considering that we strive towards recognition within the European High Education Area an official certificate of quality. This was the basis for the Faculty of Health Studies approaches to the accreditation process. In this paper our goal is to present the implemented activities and the activities that are planned to be realized in the process of accreditation of the Faculty. Faculty of Health Studies in the academic 2011/12 has started the process of implementing the system of quality assurance and control, recognizing the necessity of introducing the same in accordance with the Law on Higher Education of Sarajevo Canton, Law on Higher Education in B&H and the strategic development goals of the University of Sarajevo. Successfully managing the process of accreditation of the Faculty of Health Studies is a basic prerequisite to fulfill all the conditions prescribed by ENQA and the HEA. The main objective was assurance and quality management that will ultimately lead to excellence of teaching, scientific, research and other processes at the Faculty. With earlier efforts of all employees at the Faculty of Health Studies significant progress was made in establishing a system of quality assurance and management. ISSS is successfully implemented, four types of surveys among students have been done, quality manual and operating procedures written and internal audit implemented as well as many other important activities. This showed the current position of the Faculty and alignment of the QA and QM with respect to standards. It is necessary to do management adequately of these processes which can be expected to obtain desired results in the future.
