Guest performances of Polish companies in Lithuanian SSR: between challenges and possibilities

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to survey the chronology of guest performances given in Lithuanian SSR by professional Polish drama companies and to assess the repertoire presented to Lithuanian audiences. In the article, the general framework of management of cultural exchange between People’s Republic of Poland and Soviet Union is reconstructed in order to describe the ideological filter that prevented ideologically questionable productions from crossing Lithuanian border.
