Summary/Abstract: The article examines some features of the Bulgarian “star” nicknames: their semantic motivation and word-formation. Most of the nicknames are used with semantic change of their meaning: narrowed or expanded. The nicknames that have different semantic motivation from the one they had in their creation and which could be seen initially, form an outstanding group. Altogether the word-formative models for the creation of nicknames of Bulgarian “stars” coincide with the ways of word-formation in the youth speech – the lively expressiveness; the linguistic formation of dictionary by using new created terms or words borrowed from literary language, dialects or foreign languages; the freedom in use; the defective grammatical structure etc.
