Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the treatment of the sexual innuendos in the French adaptation of the American musical Young Frankenstein. Some of them were literally translated by Stéphane Laporte because they conveyed the same meaning. But some had to be rewritten insofar as they represented wordplay unique to English. These alterations were also made to avoid a loss of translation and to keep the humor of the puns doubled with sexual innuendos. The study proposes to explore the choices of translation made by the adaptor in order to allow the audience to enjoy the adaptation of the musical.
