Transnational Family ‐ Preserving the Old Way of Life, and Gaining a New One

Summary/Abstract: In this paper there were treated transnational families of Kosovo Albanians, focusing on family structure and relations of its members that reflect many features of the traditional big family. Using participant observation method and conversations with several transnational families there are made endeavors for answering some questions, such as: which elements are preserved? What affects this preservation? What are the changes? Believing that answering to these questions will help the better understanding of practices present in today's transnational families and of the contexts in which are also included identity issues.
