Summary/Abstract: Practising of holidays by diasporians shows to be quite complex and involves social, cultural, economic, national and transnational issues. Moreover all of those practises are also implicated in the concepts of time and space (place) both in social and cultural aspects, which involve additional certain dimensions of complexity. First, we have to do with people on the move and their different places of performance, like homeland, locality (Village, town, city), seaside beaches, but also we have to do with particular temporal notions, like summer, present time, past, modernity and tradition. Human and social sciences’ main concern is to describe and explain the way people live, act, and think in present time but also how they did it in the past. As a result of that concern different theories were developed such as evolutionism, functionalism, structuralism, and while they were developed, researched and analyzed people and the processes were grouped in different manner such as, culturally, socially, locally, regionally, etc. These processes were a result of different historical, political, cultural and economic changes and therefore societies and their cultures became increasingly complex. When mentioning change, we can notice changes not only in human and/or society actions but also changes of scientific approach in studying particular human and social groupings in different places and phenomena related to them. One of the main distinctions regarding changes remains one between tradition and modernity. Thus the importance of defining Time and Space showed to be a significant way for comprehending not only human condition in general but also differences between various societies in various places and moreover different processes and phenomena humans and societies are continuously involved in during the alternation from tradition to modernity. Therefore, with the notions of time and space it is being dealt with increasingly, by different scholars, of various disciplines, since the beginning of establishment of the sciences which coincides with modernity. However, as a result of increasingly and rapid development in the world, present time is being distinguished as postmodern, where is shown that actually traditionallity was not merely replaced by modernity but in fact they were mutually intertwined in very interesting ways, in various social and cultural practices. Therefore, in this paper are brought the notions of time and space as ascertained to fit with the changes in these three distinguished periods: pre-modernity, modernity and post-modernity, and how holidays as practised by diasporians do fit in contemporariness.
