Summary/Abstract: Consumer protection in the food market constitutes an important activity in the European Union. The paper presents the main changes in the regulatory environment in the European Union and in Poland in the field of consumer protection in the food market, which occurred over the past 10 years. These changes include both the area of health security and the protection of consumers’ economic interests. The European Union’s efforts to develop the EU law in the regulations what ensures a consistent approach to business obligations in each Member State and helps to ensure equal competitive conditions should be emphasised. Among the analysed regulations, much of the legislation aims to ensure a reliable consumers information about food.
