Summary/Abstract: This article aims to make a survey of critical remarks of two Lithuanian satirist periodicals “Spaktyva” (The Spyglass) and “Kuntaplis” (The Wooden Clog) addressed to State Theatre in Kaunas and published during the Interwar period. As a satire can be defined as a voice (or image) of fictional alternative society (Northrop Frye), in order to measure “Spaktyvas” and “Kuntaplis’” alternativeness, their criticisms shall be juxtaposed to those of official press.
