Universities as the subject of support from the European Social Fund

Summary/Abstract: The article characterizes universities as entities applying for support from the European Social Fund (eg. for the implementation of their statutory objectives, running training and consulting projects for local community, social innovation, and promotion of the idea of lifelong learning). Attention is focused on differences in the forms of support for the universities in three programming periods (ie. in the years 2004-2006, 2007-2013 and in the years 2014- -2020). The effectiveness and long-term results of various solutions have been analyzed. The discussion has been illustrated by projects implemented in the Wrocław University of Economics.
