Summary/Abstract: Although the text of “A Tale of the Iron Cross” is famous, its various aspects have not been comprehensively studied. For example, it includes features concerning the everyday life in Medieval Bulgaria. The document describes numerous details about maladies and their treatment. Medicine practices are mentioned occasionally, and usually without considerable details. The discussed series depict mostly the symptoms of the malady. At the same time a careful research of the text reveals unexpected information about cases of fever, infections of the upper respiratory tract, poisoning, sepsis and rabies, cure of a complex fracture and other terrible maladies of the medieval world.
