Summary/Abstract: Like many other people, also the Albanians from Presevo Valley, organize a number of traditional festivals that are related to the seasons of the year, dates and personalities. Holidays are associated with a very ancient tradition, which is evidenced by the rites and ceremonies practiced during them, thus rituals with pagan elements. These festivals have recently begun to fade and become less practiced; however, they are still present in the Albanian folk tradition of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja. Now, these holidays have remained more as relics from the distant past. The beliefs associated with these festivals that were once at the cult level, in the contemporary life have begun to lose the meaning they once had. Among the most celebrated holidays are: Shengjergji (shingjergj), Ali Gjyni's Day, Shmitri (Saint Mitri), Ashure, Night of Candles, Summer Day, Bajram, etc. Each of these festivals had its own rites and ceremonies that distinguished but also unified one another.
