Summary/Abstract: In this study, it was tried to determine whether caricature influences the student's works and what kind of influence it has, if any, within the Visual Arts practices. Considering the necessity of making use of different disciplines and sources in visual arts courses, the caricature which is one of the fields of visual arts is chosen as the source to be utilized, especially because it has humor content, critical thinking and concrete examples of approaching the same subject with different viewpoints. The aim is not to get students to draw a caricature but to demonstrate how it influences the pictures of the students when using the above-mentioned features. Towards this end, 'tourism' was chosen as a suitable subject for the student level and an experimental study using related caricatures was carried out. The study group was formed with a total of 53 students; 29 experimental and 24 control groups studying at 9th grade of Mucur Anatolian High School in Kırşehir province. While the students of the control group were made to draw pictures related to "tourism" directly, the students of the experimental group were shown caricature samples, the caricatures were examined together with the students and then the picture about 'tourism' was made with color painting techniques (pastel, dry paint and felt pencil). Experimental and control group studies were analyzed by experts in nine criteria and the collected data were processed with the SPSS-21 package program. As a result of the research, it was found that there was a significant difference in favor of the experimental group in terms of subject suitability, color use, interest to form variety-details, composition (arrangement), image richness, movement and rhythm, the level of completion of the work and thematic diversity. There was no significant difference between the experiment and control groups in terms of the level of use of template/mold form by students. According to such a result, it was seen that use of caricature is an effective method in terms of the criteria which are significantly different in the picture practices to be made by the students and it is suggested that such a use should be realized by enriching it in accordance with the course content and the student level but the emphasis should be placed on visual perception studies for the purpose of breaking template/mold forms.
