Summary/Abstract: Modern information and communication technologies and information systems are tools, used in order to realize and support the processes, that occur in almost every enterprise. Thanks to them, it is possible to efficiently manage processes such as orders’ keeping records, setting up the production schedule or scheduling deliveries to customers. In currently operating companies, besides these main activities, activities related to the returns and defective products management are also undertaken. And the efficient implementation of these activities also requires the use of modern information and communication technologies, including the use of appropriate IT systems. The purpose of this study was to determine the role and significance level of information and communication technologies and information systems in shaping the processes of handling returns and defective products management. In addition, this article’s objective is to show how Polish manufacturing companies relate to such solutions, but also to emphasize the importance of using these tools in their business practices.
