Summary/Abstract: The present article is an analysis of the strategies adopted in the translation of names in different languages. The theoretical framework is provided by the E. Coseriu’s writings on translation with a special focus on the “uses of the non-canonical linguisitc signs”. The corpus we use in our analysis consists in the collection of the French cartoons Asterix and Obelix
