Functionality of Social Assistance Institutions. Part I – Beneficiaries of Welfare system – Study Exampled of Lodz City Inhabitants

Summary/Abstract: Aim of the study was to characterize a profile of average social assistance institutions (sai) beneficiary in big-city population and needs analysis determining an enjoyment of sai support. The study involved 120 inhabitants of Lodz who reported to sai to receive a necessary welfare. It was carried out with an authorial questionnaire interview. An average sai user profile characterized with: the so-called “late” working age, usually middle education, loneliness, low level of self-assessment in material standing and in health status. Social support was mainly financial, it lasted minimum a year and was caused by financial problems associated with unemployment and health deficits.
