OVERVIEW OF THE EFFECTS OF THE MEASURES UNDERTAKING TO REDUCE MIGRATION TO EUROPE

Summary/Abstract: By the end of 2017, the migration crises seems clearly receding. This receding must not be seen as the end of irregular migration, solving its causes or the circumstances that made migratory pressures paroxysmal, but likely as the sudden deterioration of a chronic situation reflection. It is time for us to make a reflection in order to see what caused this receding. Could this situation be explained through the fact that in countries of origin or transit the candidates for these journeys became fewer or was it because the migrants were stopped in the countries of transit or originbefore their departure due to an official agreement (like European Union – Turkey s tatement) or due to an unofficial deal (like Italy- Libya)? It is also important to assesswhat was the impact of the political measures taken a long the main migratory routes in order to determine the future steps.
