Summary/Abstract: Established as compensatory measures for the removal of the border c ontrol at the internal borders between the Member States (MS) of the European Union (EU), the police and customs cooperation centres (PCCC) have been developed towards efficent and timely police and customs cooperation tools in the border areas. In response to the emerging risks and threats for internal security and border management in EU, MS and the EU instituions aim at making best use of the PCCC as regional cooperation platforms for exchange of information, analysis and operational support. There are diffrent types of PCCC în EU promoting bilateral, trilateral and multilateral cooperation between MS but also between MS and third countries. The particular example of Romania is illustrative for the use of PCCC in the centralised management of information for the fight against cross-border criminality and illegal migration and facilitator for providing operational response. PCCC shall be active part of the integrated border management of EU borders and shall contribute to the setting up of the National Situational Picture to enrich and to enlarge the European Situational Picture provided through Eurosur to MS and other stakeholders by collating, comparing, processing and sharing relevant data and information. EBCG Agency has implemented the cooperation with PCCC in a number of focal points to boost the police cooperation în border management and decrease the response time în border control operational activities.
