Summary/Abstract: The inspired inventor and science man, the engi neer George (Gogu) Constantinescu (1881–1965), has started his scientific preparation beeng preocupied with the music and he continued with the study of the vibrations of the musical instru ments, asking himself if this vibrations can be transformed in the mechanical energy. After 1910, George (Gogu) Constantinescu has been working in London as an engineer and he has realized transforming the vibrations in the mechanical energy and cre ated a method for target firing with a machine gun, during the flight, through the aeroplane helix. In London, George (Gogu) Constantinescu created a lot of inventions using the transforma tion of the vibrations in the mechanical energy, transformation that has constitued the principels of a new science – sonics science. In 1918, George (Gogu) Constantinescu publised in London the scientific treaty „Theory of Sonics” that has been published also in Romania in 1922 with the title „Teoria sonicităţii”. At 10 june 1920, George (Gogu) Constantinescu has became coressponding member of the Romanian Academy, and at the 3 February 1965, he becames full member of the Romanian Academy.
