Summary/Abstract: Climatic changes, conspicuous in the last decades, are one of the great changements of our time. On the World Health Day – 7 April 2008, WHO warned about the need for health protection against the ill-fated effects of climatic changes. An effective response to climatic changes would involve numerous public health measures. Clean water, healthy and adequate nourishment, vaccination of the population, an effective control of disease vectors, preparations for counter balancing the effects of natural disasters, all these are essential elements of public health practices. The effort to counter balance the negative effects through solutions to be adopted and applied should be taken urgently, permanently and concerted. Beside the impact upon health, the climatic changes have unbalancing effects on many other aspects of social life. Decisions with adverse effects upon city planning, transportation, energy resources, food production, the use of land and drinking water resources are prejudicial to both the climate and health.
