Summary/Abstract: By combining elements of medical ethics acquired in their medical practice with those resulted from updated information regarding the new elements in the science of communication, physicians may improve their relationship with the patients, such as the population's level of confidence and satisfaction in relation to their physicians become higher. To have an improved physician-patient relationship there is need for a reconsideration of the medical-social disciplines in the framework of the pre-university and university medical education, with increased emphasis on such issues as professional ethics, philosophy of life and even civic education. A good physician-patient communication gives birth to trust and mutual respect. Lack or scarcity of communication generates animosities, mistrust and sometimes even conflicts that bring the physician before the Physicians' Board or even before justice.
