Summary/Abstract: The new International Sanitary Rules confer to the States affiliated to WHO a number of important obligations in the application of the measures of systematically detecting and preventing medical problems, which may at any moment extent to planetary scale and whose consequences may be disastrous to mankind. Fulfillment of the measures included in the new International Sanitary Rules will be possible with the financial support and other material and human resources provided by the United Nations to States by means and under the control of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. In its capacity as old member of the WHO, since 1948, Romania was entrusted the honouring task to organize in the period 12-15 September this year the 55th session of the Regional Committee for Europe of the World Health Organization.
