The Ark – a Source for Research into the Historical Evolution of Church Architecture. Case Study – Churches from Turnu Roşu, Ocna Sibiului and Teiuş

Summary/Abstract: This article starts from the assumption that the ark presented in the votive images has the original appearance of the respective church. Various elements, such as bell towers that are not illustrated, also new spaces built in time and incomplete scenes of mural paintings or fragments of new mural paintings, compared to the inscriptions and the old research lead us to the statement that this element could be a research source in the historical evolution of church architecture.
